Labor Day weekend is winding down, and I’ve had a fair amount of time to climb the ladders of Starcraft II. In fact I jumped strait over the Silver League and into the Gold League. I’m not quite sure how that works, but in random 4v4 I am Golden! <- Derp!

Check it out! If I haven’t screwed it up already.

This isn’t exactly what I’m going for, but it’s a good start. 4v4 is largely luck, especially when some of your teammates are random, and if everyone on the other side guns for you early on there is a good chance you will be destroyed and have no impact on the outcome of the game. I’m looking to advance in 1v1. The match is decided entirely on how you play, unless the other player has no idea what is going on, or is a master. This is raw competition. Nowhere to alleviate blame or pride. It tests all aspects of the game from scouting, to expansion, to unit composition. How you use your minerals is crucial, because the playing field is completely level at start up. Using your minerals to defend yourself, will not be thwarted by someone with double the income, unless you let them expand unchecked. It’s a tough balancing act, where any wrong move can mean your certain defeat. It’s quite exhilarating.

For now I’ll feel good about being a Gold player, while I know deep down I’m not that good…. YET!
